Current testing opportunities
The Chandler Police Department will begin recruiting for Dispatcher, Emergency Call Taker, and Detention Officer in February 2012, with testing taking place in March. Dates and time to be posted soon.
Steps in the selection process
- Complete City of Chandler application (when the position is open)
- Oral board interview
- Background interview
- Command interview (Dispatcher, Emergency Call-Taker, Detention Officer and Park Ranger)
- Background investigation
- Polygraph examination
- Psychological exam (Dispatcher, Emergency Call-Taker and Detention Officer)
- Interview with the Chief of Police
- Drug screen

Important reminders for testing
- You must be 18 years of age (21 years of age for Detention Officer);
- Bring picture ID to the interview;
- Bring all material requested by background investigator;
- Applicants must obtain a passing score on each step of the testing procedure to remain eligible in the selection process;
- Should an applicant fail any portion they will be removed from consideration and will need to re-apply in the next recruitment;
- The application process may vary if determined necessary
The selection process is very competitive and may take 2-3 months to complete. We only consider the most highly qualified applicants. Submitting an application does not guarantee an interview.
