Designed to provide a means to increase both the perceived and real effectiveness of the beat officer in the community. Beat officers inspect the premises of businesses (Night Eyes) for observed weaknesses of security during the hours that they are closed at night. Residences (Footprints) are inspected when people are away from their homes or have an obvious situation that would attract criminal activity, such as, an open garage door. Door hangers are left to inform the businesses and citizens of the officer’s findings.
