Organization - Property Crimes Unit

The Chandler Police Department Property Crimes Unit is just one of the units assigned to the Criminal Investigations Section. The Property Crimes Unit is responsible for the investigation of crimes against property such as burglary, theft, criminal damage, arson, vehicle theft, and environmental crimes. The Unit is comprised of a sergeant and 9 detectives.

The detectives review police reports generated by Patrol officers and help in developing leads in various cases. Many times a suspect is involved in more than one crime and the detective will attempt to identify the other crimes the suspect was involved in. The detectives coordinate with other agency detectives in order to identify suspects and to coordinate efforts to apprehend various suspects.

Detectives will conduct surveillance of persons suspected in being involved in crimes and locations where crimes have been occurring. The detectives will utilize a variety of surveillance equipment in conducting the surveillance.

The Property Crimes Unit was awarded the Unit Citation Award in 2000 for outstanding unit achievement.
